This Reversable Strip Quilted Casserole Hot Pad gives you step by step instructions to complete your very own. Once you have made one…you will be hooked! Which is great because they make wonderful gifts too!
This is a great project to use left over fabric from other projects!
Steps One, Two, Three:
Gather your supplies. Pick a main fabric for one side. Then, if you have strips of left over fabric sort them and see which one will look good with the main fabric you have chosen. If you do not have any left over fabric cut an assortment of strips between 1 inch and 1 3/4 inch wide.
Place you main fabric wrong side up. Place Stick on top followed by Solarize.
Iron the layers together.
Steps Four, Five, Six:
Place Toasty Cotton Batting on top of the layers.
Starting with a small strip, place it right side up in the upper left corner (or upper right if you prefer).
Add a second strip on top of the first, with right sides facing each other.
Steps Seven, Eight, Nine:
Stitch the two strips together on top of the layers. Flip the second strip and trim the excess fabric close to the batting. Press toward second strip.
Continue adding strips right sides together on top of the previous strip.
Then, stitching the strips together on top of the layers. Flipping the strips and cutting the excess fabric. Pressing after each strip is added. Repeat until the batting is covered.
Steps Ten, Eleven, Twelve:
Trim the main fabric so that it is about 1 inch wider then the stripped layer, all the way around. To create the binding: fold the excess fabric on one side edge in half as shown in the photo.
Fold the excess fabric again covering the raw edge of the quilted side as show in the photo.
Stitch binding in place.
Finishing…
Bind the remaing three sides.
Now there is a Scrappy Strip Quilted side…
And a Reverse Quilted side with the main fabric…enjoy!
