I love created journals for the holidays. Nothing big or fancy, just someplace where I can save and share some photos that I take with my family. This year I decided to add a little gift to my journals with some wood Gnome ornaments that I had. I drilled some holes into them and used a mini light set from Pear Blossom Press to add a little jazz to them! You won’t believe how easy they are to make and I hope you give this project a try. Steps One, Two, Three:
Die cut the inside pages from Green, Red, and Yellow cardstock.
Using holiday themed patterned papers, die cut the layers and adhere them to the pages.
For the front and back covers, die cut from chipboard or heavy cardstock. Next, die cut and adhere the patterned papers to the chipboard pieces. Die cut “Holiday Greetings” from Green glitter paper and adhere it to the front cover as shown.
Steps Four, Five, Six:
Place the wood ornament on a piece of Red cardstock. Trace it with a pencil and cut it out. Set aside.
Using a small hand drill, drill three holes on the tree portion of the ornament for the lights.
Thread the three lights through the holes from the back of the ornament. Wrap the wires up and tape them down. Add some double-sided tape to the battery pack to secure it.
Steps Seven, Eight, Nine:
Apply the foam tape to the back of the ornament and attach the Red cardstock cut out.
Place all the pages and covers together. Cut a piece of Silver thread 20″ long, place it through the holes and tie a bow. Add the snowflake brads through the holes to give the journal more stability. Attach the place snowflakes to the ends of the thread.
To finish, adhere a pre-made tag to the cover. Cut a piece of ribbon and adhere it to the Gnome for a hanger. Add a snowflake button to the Gnome’s hat and the tag with a gun glue. Place a binder clip to the front cover attach the Gnome ornament.
