I love blending the worlds of sewing and papercrafting, especially when I make greeting cards. Decorative trims, the kind for sewing, make gorgeous embellishments for handmade cards.

Trims give your cards extra texture, dimension and personality. Here’s a quick and easy all-occasion card I made with a set of matching papers in black and cream – everything was dug up from my existing stash, of course – don’t ever forget to #craftyourstash, baby!

Supplies:

  • Narrow metallic trim
  • Black folded card – 5” x 7”
  • Patterned cardstock (diamond panel) – 4.5” x 6.5”
  • Patterned cardstock (cream strip) – 1” x 4.5”
  • Two concentric cardstock circles
  • Paper adhesive
  • Clear gel glue
  • Dimensional foam adhesive squares
  • Sticker sentiment
  • Gold heart charm

1.  Line up the ends of three 7.5″ lengths of trim (face down if the trim is not two-sided) on a piece of scotch tape. Stick the tape down to the top edge on the back of the black diamond panel.

2.  Before folding the trims over to the front of the panel, adhere the 1″ cream strip across the top of the panel as shown above. Then dab a little clear gel glue under each trim, line up and press in place on the card. Fold the opposite ends to the back of the card and tape down.

3.  Glue the panel to the folded card. Layer and adhere the sticker sentiment on top of two punched circles of card stock. Position on the panel with self-adhesive foam pads. Add a little metal charm and you’re done!
