Step One:
For this project you want to use lighter patterned papers so it will be easier to fold the pinwheels. You also want the papers to be double-sided. I really wanted to use this colorful paper but it was only one-sided. Here’s what you do~ Cut the 12″ x 12″ paper into 6″ x 6″ pieces and adhere them with spray adhesive. Repeat two more times to create three pinwheels.
Step Two:
Using the black inkpad, stamp both sides of the paper.
Step Three:
Designer Note: The pattern I used is made to cover a whole piece of 6″ x 6″ paper. You’ll need to print the pattern out 50% smaller to get the size I used for this project~
Once you have the smaller size pattern, lay it onto the paper to trace and then cut out.
Step Four:
Designer Note: The pattern has hole marks to punch if you want to secure your pinwheels with a brad.
Pull the sides to the center of the pinwheels and glue in place. Cut the shanks from the buttons and adhere them to the center. To finish the pinwheels, cut three wood dowels at 11″, 9″ and 7″. Adhere them to the back of the pinwheels with a glue gun. Tie ribbons around and add the pinwheels to a glass container filled with raffia . Add a beach themed cupcake topper (pink flamingo) inside the container and adhere some fun ribbon. Optional: Add some shimmer to the pinwheels with a glitter pen and seal with a spray sealer.
