Love stamping? Then come play with us as we explore fun and easy stamping techniques with Sara Naumann, author of Sara’s Stamping Techniques.
Many stamps come with coordinating dies, making it easy to create stamped, colored and dimensional card focals like this beautiful floral motif:
Notice how the flower bouquet is cut and lifted from the background? It’s all easy with a stamp and die combo!
This stamp is a layering design, which is how we get the shading on the stamped image. (Look closely and you’ll see different tones of green on the leaves, and peach colors on the blossoms.) It’s so easy to do: First you’ll stamp the main outline of the design, then add details and fill in the leaves and blossoms with the coordinating stamps on the stamp set. I find a MISTI stamp positioner really helps with this, as you’re layering stamped elements directly on top of each other.
Okay, let’s get started!
You will need—
- Stamps: Extra Special (Altenew)
- Cutting dies: Extra Special (Altenew)
- Inkpads: Permanent Black, Peach Perfect, Caramel Toffee, Frayed Leaf, Forest Glades (Altenew)
- Cardstock: White, khaki, brown
- Kraft blank card
- Hemp twine
- Pearl embellishments
- Foam tape
- Craft sheet
- Die cutting machine
- Low tack tape (washi tape is perfect)
- Optional (but helpful): MISTI stamp positioner (My Sweet Petunia)
Instructions—
1. Use black ink to stamp the flower outline onto white cardstock. Use Peach Perfect to stamp the flower silhouettes and fill in the flowers. Stamp the flower details with Caramel Toffee.
2. Use Frayed Leaf to stamp the leaf silhouettes to fill in the leaves. Stamp the leaf details with Forest Glades.
3. Die cut the flower shape.
4. Position the flower onto khaki cardstock, but do not adhere it yet. Determine the position of the sentiment stamps, then remove the flower and stamp them with black.
5. Mat the piece on white, brown and again on white cardstock.
6. Glue a 1″ vertical strip of khaki cardstock to the front of the kraft card base. Wrap the front of the card with twine and tie in a bow at the bottom of the card front. Glue the matted piece to the card font.
7. Adhere the flower with foam tape. Add pearl accents as shown.
