Many people think that I’m mainly a cardmaker and although I began my career as a professional designer creating cards, I quickly found my niche for creating home decor. I love making frames, lamps, wall hangings etc. and put a lot of time and love into everything I make, so I want to be able to enjoy my creations either in my house or someone else’s. I created this Peek-A-Boo Frame using dies and stamps from Your Next Stamp with something else in mind that I love…surprises! What could be more fun than opening the little door of the frame to see the watering can filled with flowers inside?! It’s bound to put a smile on anyone’s face!!! Lisa~

Supplies for Peek-A-Boo Frame

Check out the full list of supplies at the end of this post.

Step One:

Cut blue cardstock 4″ x 5″. Die cut the 2 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangle from the blue cardstock.

Step Two:

Using the large and medium size scallop dies, die cut one large and two medium pieces from different patterned papers.

Step Three:

Cut yellow cardstock 2 3/4″ x 3 3/4″. Place door die on top and run through die cutting machine.

Step Four:

Adhere one of the medium sized scallop rectangles over door edges. Do not glue the door closed. Cut prongs off of the brad and adhere to the door.

Step Five:

Cut a piece of patterned paper 2 3/8″ x 3 1/2″. Cut the bottom off of the second scalloped rectangle. Adhere both pieces of scalloped rectangle to the patterned paper. Apply a little bit of glue to the back and attach to the inside of the canvas.

Step Six:

Stamp two of the watering can images and two butterflies on white cardstock using black inkpad. Color the images with chalk pencils and cut out. Cut the flowers off of the watering can. Attach the watering cans together with foam tape. Adhere miniature silk flowers inside the watering cans with glue gun. Attach a small piece of foam tape to the backs of the butterflies.

To finish the project, cut patterned paper 6″ x 7″. Glue the paper to the front and sides of the 4″ x 5″ canvas, leaving the back of the canvas open. Layer and adhere the blue cardstock, the large scallop rectangle and the door together. Adhere to the opening of the canvas. On the inside of the canvas, adhere the watering can and butterflies. Attach small pieces of ivy around the outside of the canvas with a glue gun. NOTE: The back of the canvas serves as a “shadow box”, making it the focal point of the project.
