Flowers are one of my passions and their colors always inspire me. Today I want to say thank you for giving me this wonderful year and welcome to the most amazing year: Hello 2016!!! In today’s post I am sharing a card using flowers as focal point. To color these I used color pencils, ones of my favorites.
Supplies:
- Prismacolor Color Pencils
- Me Gustas Stamp Set by Stampin Up
- Hearty Hello Stamp by Skipping Stones Designs
- Memento Tuxedo Black Ink
- PITT Gold Faber Castel
- Basic Black Card Stock
- Whisper White Card Stock
- Gold Sequins
- Dimensionals or Double Sided Foam Tape
- Scissors
- Ruler
- Paper Trimmer
Instructions:
Cut a piece of whisper white card stock in 4-1/4″x5-1/2″. Stamp your images using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.
Start to color the flowers using the light color (Lilac). Create a shading using the dark color (Violet) inside of the petals. You can blending the colors using the light color in circular motion.
Repeat this process for other flowers. You can mix other colors always using the lighter color first and then the darker. To blend both colors paint in the same line or use circular motions. For the leaves use two different green tones and keep the dark tone over the veins and borders. Keep some white spaces on your colored images to balance and enhance the color.
Remember that you can always create new shadows and blend the colors.
Now is time to create the layer of your card. Take a ruler and mark 1″ from the right side, trace a line just under and upper the colored flower. With your scissor fussy cut your flower and with the trimmer cut the rest of the border. After this, stamp the sentiment using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.
With a PITT Gold Marker and a ruler trace a line over the right border just as decoration.
Cut a piece of Basic Black card stock of 4-1/4’x11″ and make score on 5-1/2″. Mark the score line and fold. This will be the base of your card.
Put a lot of dimensional on the back of your painted layer and paste over the base of the card. Decorate with some gold sequins.
I hope you enjoy this project and come back soon for more ideas for your crafts. Enjoy the season with your family and happy new year!
