Our Beach Journal is handmade with vibrant fibers inspired by the colors of the sea. It’s a wonderful place to write down your beachside memories or jot down your daily to-do list.

This colorful journal project included two of my favorite things…the beach and beautiful fibers! I was so excited to use the NEW Eileen Hull’s Jewel Loom tool created by Julianna C. Avelar. I used the new tool to weave fibers into a fun & funky focal point on my journal. The journal was created with Eileen’s Scoreboard die and some awesome new products from Sizzix. I hope you’ll give this project a try. Crafty hugs, Lisa~

Supplies for Fiber Fun Beach Journal

Steps One, Two, Three:

Use the journal die to cut two covers and one closure tab from matboard.

Mix a little water with the acrylic paint to create a wash. Apply the paint to the front and back of the covers. Let dry completely, and then lightly sand the covers. Wipe the covers off with a paper towel.

Cut the ribbon 40″ long. Thread the ribbon through the holes of the journal covers. To see how I attached the ribbon, check out the video Here. It starts at 32 minutes and 33 seconds into the video.

Steps Four, Five, Six:

Using the frame die set, cut one large from the purple cardstock, one medium from blue cardstock, and two small from the blue cardstock.

Run the frames through the die cutting machine with the stencil, following the manufacturer’s instructions on how to create the die cut sandwich for a stencil. Use the sanding block to sand the frames, and then wipe them off with a paper towel.

Stamp the sentiment on a piece of white cardstock with the black inkpad and cut the image out. Tear a piece of the pink cardstock slightly larger than the sentiment and adhere them together. To finish, cut a variety of fibers 10″ long. Fold them in half, tie them together, and then tie them to the top of the journal. Adhere the frames and sentiment to the front of the journal. Use a glue gun to attach the closure to the back and add a piece of Velcro to the front. Adhere the woven fibers to the center with a glue gun, and then attach a few of the beach-themed buttons.
