Supplies/Tools:

  • 20g bare copper wire, 18g bare copper wire, 22g bare copper wire
  • Plain large link copper coated steel chain
  • Two 10mm x 6mm red lampwork roundelles
  • One 20mm red lampwork coin-shaped focal
  • One 6mm x 4mm red glass bead
  • One 6mm x 2mm black glass bead
  • One 3mm copper round bead
  • One 30mm coiled copper link
  • One copper wire coiled hook-and-eye clasp (total length – 52mm)
  • Four 7mm copper bead caps
  • Chain nose pliers, round nose pliers, wire cutters
  • Chasing hammer
  • Optional: metal colorant/patina

Instructions:

  1. Cut 4.5” of 20g copper wire and form a wrapped loop on one end using round nose pliers. String one 20mm red lampwork coin-shaped focal onto the wire and make another wrapped loop.  Trim the excess wire with wire cutters, making sure to hide the end of the wire.  Take a 6” piece of 18g bare copper wire and wrap it 5 times around the top loop of the link and then diagonally pull wire to the other end of the link and wrap the wire around the bottom loop.  Try to make the wrapped wire a bit “messy”, so it doesn’t look perfectly coiled, and be sure to hide the end of the wire at both ends of the link.
  2. Cut 4.5” of 20g copper wire and form a wrapped loop on one end using round nose pliers. String the following onto the wire in this order:  one copper bead cap, one 10mm x 6mm red lampwork roundelle, and another copper bead cap, and make another wrapped loop. Repeat one more time for a total of two links.
  3. Cut a 2.5” piece of 22g wire, and hammer approximately 2mm of one end of the wire flat with the casing hammer. String one 6mm x 4mm red glass bead onto the wire and form a wrapped loop.  Repeat with the 6mm x 2mm black glass bead and the 3mm copper round bead for a total of 3 charms/dangles.
  4. Connect the wire-wrapped links using single links from the large link chain between each wire-wrapped link using the chain nose pliers.
  5. Add the 3 charms to the “eye” part of the clasp with the chain nose pliers.
  6. Optional step: dip the whole bracelet into the metal patina for a few minutes, take it out, rinse and dry it thoroughly.
