If you’re anything like me, you have probably amassed more rolls of washi tape than you actually care to admit. I realized it might take the rest of my life to deplete my supply of washi tape when I’m using only one strip at a time to embellish a project, like I did with this cute tin for a gift card and these little artist trading cards. So now I’m digging into my stash and making cute handmade greeting cards with washi tapes instead of scrapbook papers.

This pink and yellow card is perfect for spring – and for sending that special someone a cheerful note for any occasion – birthday, get well, thank you or just because it’s Monday.

Make this washi tape card in just 10 minutes!

Just apply strips of washi tape across the front of a folded card – this card is 5″ square. I like to use white cardstock because washi tape can be fairly transparent. Start at the bottom and work your way up, then trim away the excess around the edges. If you use a wider strip at the top, fold it right over the card’s score line. Alternatively, you can start with a flat card panel, wrap the ends of each strip around to the back and then mount the panel to a folded card in a coordinating color of cardstock.

I love how different bright colors and patterns look together – stripes, polka dots, chevrons. I found a cute roll of die-cut decorative tape with little multi-colored dots and diamonds that makes a perfect accent. Layer together some paper flowers, add a bit of bling in the center, choose a sticker sentiment, and your handmade greeting card is done. This card took only a few minutes to make, and it’s so much more special than anything you might zip to the drugstore to buy.
