Hello Friends!  It’s Carmen with you today and I’m sharing a quick and easy tutorial for a Happy Birthday Card.  I have a dear friend that is my penpal, and she has a birthday coming up.  So, I decided to make her a card that has a vintage feel and look to it, but also has script and writing on it for a penpal theme.

Supplies

Tools

  • Painters tape
  • baby wipes
  1.  I love using the Strathmore mixed media cards because they can really take a lot of wet medium and not warp when dry.  I first applied a piece of the Vintage Silhouette decoupage paper to the front of the card with decoupage medium.  I held the card in place by using some painters tape.

2.   I then sprayed it with some Tattered Angels mist in Cozy Yellow and spread it around with a baby wipe.  Once dry I applied some black modeling paste with the French Script stencil.  This keeps the penpal script theme going.          Make sure you clean your stencil as soon as possible, you don’t want the modeling paste to dry onto the stencil.

1.   I have a large stash of vintage lace trims and book pages.  I adhered these pieces with the decoupage medium.

4.  The last step is stamping the words onto the book page.  I used Recollections wood stamp set and Staz-On ink in Ganache.

I hope my friend loves her card.  In an age of technology and instant messaging, I think it’s so nice to receive a card in the mail and especially one that was handmade.
