Hi friends!  This is Carmen back with you to continue our month-long Beach Theme projects.  I’ve got a fun and easy project for you today.  This beach shadow box makes a wonderful memories keepsake for summer vacations and perfect for a beach theme home decor.

Tools:

• One inch Brush
• #8 flat brush
• Sponge brush
• Paper cutter
• Scissors
• Tacky glue
• Baby wipes

Instructions:

1.  Using your 1″ brush, paint the entire back side, front scrolls and inside walls of the shadow box with Chalky Finish paint in Legacy.  Use the #8 flat brush to get paint into the scroll openings.  Art Minds does make shadow boxes that have flat fronts, and on hindsight, that probably would have been easier to paint.

2.   While paint is drying, cut pieces of paper from the Canvas Corps Maritime collection.  I decided to cut pieces that would give a look of faux sections within the box, and a nautical banner.

3.  To give the box a weathered look, I applied Media Line Crackle Paint to the front scrolls and inside walls.  Once the paint was dry I painted on Media Line’s Antiquing Cream in Patina Green.  Using a damp baby wipe, I wiped off the excess antiquing cream.

4.   Decoupage the cut papers into the shadow box with a sponge brush.  Once dry I cut pieces of the large twine and adhered with tacky glue.  This outlined the faux sections I wanted.

5.  The wood crab I painted with Tattered Angels paint in Rose and then applied Media Line Crackle Glaze.  Once dry, I rubbed on the Patina Green antiquing cream, waited about 5 minutes and then wiped it with a damp baby wipe.  This highlighted the cracks from the glaze and gave it a weathered look.

6.  I sprayed one of the Canvas Corps Nautical tags with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Icicle Blue, once dry, I stamped on the word ‘Beach’, and added some twine.

7.  Finally, I adhered with tacky glue the banner on top, and the hanging charms using the mini Canvas Corps clothes pins.  The Paper House 3D stickers have round glue dots on the back that when applied give your scene dimension.  I tacky glued the blue glass beads just below the sailboat sticker for an ocean look.  If you have sea shells or sand dollars you’ve collected, this is a perfect project to use those.

This box can easily be propped up on a shelf or you can add a saw-tooth hanger on the back and place it on the wall. It’s a wonderful addition to a beach house decor.
