It’s no secret that I love sunflowers! Just seeing them uplifts my mood and makes me smile. So, I thought it would be nice to show you how to use the busted canvas technique using an inexpensive wood frame and patterned paper. I hope you give it a try! Crafty hugs, Lisa~
Steps One, Two, Three:
To begin, you’ll need double-sided patterned paper. If you don’t have the double-sided paper, you can use spray adhesive to adhere the two papers together. Use the tape runner to adhere the paper to the front of the wood frame and cut off the excess with a craft knife.
Turn the frame over to the back. Using a craft knife, cut the paper in a cross pattern, and then make diagonal cuts from the corners to the middle of the paper.
Flip the frame to the front side and begin rolling the paper as shown. Cut off the pointed ends of the paper off with scissors and adhere the paper sections to the frame with a glue gun. Adhere another piece of patterned paper to the back of the frame with a tape runner as in Step 1.
Steps Four, Five, Six:
On a piece of Yellow cardstock, stamp the sentiment with a Black inkpad and cut it out. Next, layer and adhere a piece of Kraft cardstock and cut it out leaving a small border around the sentiment.
Cut a piece of Tan trim 4″ long and adhere it inside the frame opening as shown. Attach the sentiment to the trim with foam tape. Tuck the sunflowers inside the frame and adhere them with the glue gun.
To finish, adhere the additional pieces of trim, the sunflowers, and other greenery to the front of the frame. Use glue gun to attach the 1/2″ Tan trim all around the frame to cover the edges. See the finished photo for placement.
