Reading is one of my favorite things to do and although I love my Kindle, it doesn’t compare to opening a new book. There’s just something about the feel of paper pages that makes my heart happy. That’s why I created this fun Autumn Bookmark Card with products from Newton’s Nook Designs. It’s perfect for the book lovers in your family! Crafty hugs, Lisa~
Supplies for Autumn Bookmark Card
Check out the full list of supplies at the end of this post.
Step One:
Cut the cardstock papers as follows~ Burgundy cardstock 10″W x 6″H folded in half, Orange cardstock 9″W x 5 1/2″H. Patterned Papers~ Plaid 4 7/8″W x 5 7/8″H, Leaves 4 3/8″W x 5 3/8″H and Checkered 2 1/8″W x 5 3/8″H (cut 2).
Step Two:
Fold the orange cardstock in half. From the right side score at 2 1/4″ and again at 4 1/2″. Adhere the patterned papers to each section. Measure 3″ from the top, right side and cut a diagonal line as shown.
Step Three:
Die cut two pieces of white cardstock and one piece of patterned paper with the bookmark die. Next, die cut a large scalloped label from tan cardstock. Layer both oval dies and die cut from burgundy cardstock. Adhere the pieces together. NOTE: I use three layers for the bookmark to make it more sturdy.
Step Four:
Stamp the image of the books & pumpkins on a piece of white cardstock with the black inkpad. Color the image with watercolor pencils and cut out. Stamp the sentiments as shown below.
Step Five:
Adhere the images to the bookmark. Cut some fibers 10″ long and add them to the bookmark. Adhere two miniature books to the ends of the fibers with a glue gun. Next, sandwich a couple fibers between the two sunflower buttons and adhere together.
Step Six:
Add a piece of lace and buttons as shown below, and then adhere to the card base. Apply some double sided tape on the right side and bottom to make the pocket. Place the bookmark inside. NOTE: Add some green floss to the buttons for extra fun!
