Laurel Lee Pollard here, hosting the Bella BLOG with the final installment of my three-part series, “Satisfying Your Urge to Embellish Pocket Pages.”
This series focuses on the expanded offerings of die-cutting options that are specifically designed to work with our beloved pocket pages. Today, I’m featuring the creative options by The Crafter’s Workshop, along with new techniques and a contemporary feel.

The Crafter’s Workshop is famous for their extensive collection on masks and stencils geared toward mixed media. Their collection is ever-growing with their American-made metal dies. With their supplies at the ready, I knew I wanted to get the feel of mixed media design with the ease of traditional pocket page scrapbooking.
For this, I began by gathering my supplies.
The “Brights” paper pack collection by Momenta gave me the leg-up I was looking for. Slightly textured, it offered me 48 double-sided pages in the color palette I needed. Better yet, it was already printed with variegated tone and imperfections that are the hallmarks of mixed media.
From there, I began to outline my layout (Find out more about my layout design process HERE), ensuring to take a picture of it with my phone for future reference throughout “the build.”
I really appreciated using stencils because they gave me the opportunity to rearrange the design to fit my needs, as you can see here where I moved “You Said” from portrait to landscape orientation in order to accommodate my layout.
The next step, I began preparing custom-colored, and perfectly sized, embellishments by Rhoda Palazzari’s “Picture Perfect” (above) and Julie Fei-Fan Balzer’s “Days of the Week Bits” (below).
One of the best features of The Crafter’s Workshop collection is the 4 X 6 “Basic” and large assortment of coordinating overlay dies such as the “Chickenwire” you see here. I was able to cut away the sections I wanted to be able to highlight just the right areas in the photo.
Along with Jaime Echt’s “Mini Life Shapes,” I was able to use the cut-away sections of the die-cuts as a stencil, in order to create a cohesive look of my larger focal point insert.
Pairing the extensive line of The Crafter’s Workshop creative options with Momenta’s “Brights” double-sided paper collection, I was able to design a creative pocket page Project Life® layout using my traditional supply kit.
This, of course, is only the beginning of what you can accomplish by using these inspiring dies and stencils from The Crafter’s Workshop. Consider taking these designs to the next level by reaching for your brushes, paints, gelatos and chalks – your creative options are endless!
As pocket pages continue to take a firm hold as a distinctive design practice, I hope I have inspired you to satisfy your urge to embellish them, easily, in this series for the Bella BLOG. Enjoy the die-cutting, stamping and stenciling collections I’ve highlighted here by pairing them with the whole gamut of beautiful papers and art supplies already available in your stash. You’ll love the look!
* Thanks to all the support from the wonderful companies that fully embraced this project. While manufacturers, upon request, have freely supplied many of the products included here, the concept, design and comments are my own.
