I used 4 shades of the Americana Decor Chalky Finish Lace, Heritage, Refreshing and Carbon Black. I wanted a soft and vintage look to the pumpkins.
I gave the pumpkins a coat of Gesso, but you really don’t need to with this chalky finish. It would cover well even on this plastic surface.
I then added 2 coats of Americana Decor Chalky Finish paint. Once the coats were dry I added the Dark Creme Wax with the large stipple brush. I then wiped off the excess with a clean cotton cloth. I left quite a bit on because I wanted a very rustic look, but you can take off as much as you want. To seal it I applied the light satin varnish. This gave them a soft look and not too shiny. You can also skip the dark wax step and add the clear creme wax for a cleaner look. Lots of different ways to personalize them.
For the stems I painted them with some gold metallic paint. One of the pumpkins I painted with the Carbon Black Chalky Finish Paint and then added DecoArt’s Media Line Crackle glaze. Once that was dry and cracked I added their White Antiquing Creme to really bring out the cracks.
I really love how these turned out and I do plan on doing larger pumpkins to add to my dining room table display. These add a wonderful and unique look to your Fall decor and so many ways to personalize the look.
